Tel Aviv: Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar was injured before he died in an Israeli attack in Gaza. He was sitting injured on the sofa of a house that had been damaged by the attack. The Israeli army did not even realize that it had brought Yahya Sinwar close to death. But fearing that Sinwar might be injured, the Israeli army started searching for him using a mini drone. He was dying in the southern Gaza ruins. He was seen lying on a chair covered with dust, with a blanket-like cloth covered with dust and completely covering his head, eyes and body. The Israeli Army has also released a video of this.
It is seen in the video that as soon as the Israeli drone hovers near him, Yahya Sinwar, who is counting his last breaths, kills the drone by throwing a stick. But he is unable to save his life. Israeli officials said the military had been searching for Yahya Sinwar for more than a year. But the Israeli soldiers who killed him on Thursday were initially unaware that they had killed their country's number one enemy after the ground war on Wednesday.
Sinwar was killed without a targeted attack, this is how he was identified
Israeli soldiers were also surprised to see the appearance of the Hamas terrorist found in the ruins, similar to that of Yahya Sinwar. He couldn't believe that he had killed his enemy number 1 like this. But later the death was finally confirmed through Sinwar's dental records, fingerprints and DNA testing. After this, on Thursday, the Israeli army said that its intelligence services were gradually restricting the area where it could operate. Earlier on July 13, Israel had found and killed Hamas military commander Mohammad Daef and other militant leaders. But in contrast, the operation that ultimately resulted in Sinwar's death was not a planned and targeted attack or a commando operation.
Israeli infantrymen were the first to see the injured Sinwar.
Israel initially thought that a common Hamas fighter had been killed.
Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Sinwar was initially identified only as a Hamas fighter, but was killed when soldiers entered the ruins and found him with a weapon, a flak jacket and 40,000 shekels ($10,731.63). When they saw that his appearance resembled that of Sinwar, they became suspicious. Hagari said that Sinwar had tried to escape after being injured. He hid in the ruins, but was killed by a missile attack by Hamas forces. Hamas itself has not yet commented on Sinwar's death, but sources within the group have said that indications they have seen suggest that Sinwar was indeed killed by Israeli soldiers.
Sinwar was the mastermind of the October 7 attack on Israel
Yahya Sinwar was the mastermind of the most terrible massacre that occurred on Israel on 7 October 2023. Apart from being the main conspirator of the attack, he was also the originator of this terrible war with Israel. He stopped using telephones and other communication devices after the war began and his predecessor Hamas chief Ismail Haniya was killed. In such a situation, even Israel's intelligence agency Mossad was not able to trace him. Following the killing of Yahya Sinwar, Israeli officials said they believed he was hiding in southern Gaza in one of the vast networks of tunnels that Hamas had dug beneath Gaza over the past two decades.
Despite this, Israeli soldiers discovered most of the tunnels. In such a situation, there was no guarantee of survival by hiding in the tunnels. Israel's army chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, said that Israel's pursuit of Sinwar last year led to him “behaving like a fugitive, causing him to change locations several times. But he was ultimately killed”. (Input: Reuters)
