Baghdad: Innocent girls of just 9 years of age, who are worshiped as goddesses in Sanatan Dharma, a Muslim country has prepared to openly allow girls of the same age to become victims of lust. You might be surprised to hear, but this Muslim country has introduced a legal proposal giving men the right to marry girls as young as 9 years old. Now preparations are underway to pass it in the House. Giving the right to marry 9 year old girls directly means giving them the right to legally exploit them sexually. That is why women have come out on the streets to protest against this decision of the government.
The name of this country is Iraq. Now this country will amend its marriage laws. Where the marriage age of girls is being reduced from 18 years to 9 years. According to the report, after this law is made, men of any age will have the legal right to marry 9 year old girls. According to the report of The Telegraph, after the enactment of this law, those girls will not have the right to divorce, child custody and inheritance. Amendments have also been proposed to deprive them of all these.
What is the logic of marriage at the age of 9?
Iraq's conservative government, led by a coalition of Shia parties, argues that the decision is an effort to protect girls from “immoral relationships.” Therefore this proposed amendment has to be passed. The second amendment to the law was passed on 16 September. The report claims it was named “Law 188”, which was considered one of the most progressive laws in West Asia when it was introduced in 1959. It provided a comprehensive set of rules to govern Iraqi families, regardless of their religious sect.
Said the proposed law is in accordance with Islam
Iraq's coalition government has described the proposed amendment as being in line with its strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law. The government says its aim is to “protect” young girls. The government with its parliamentary majority is expected to push the legislation forward despite opposition from Iraqi women's groups. And according to UNICEF, child marriage is already at high rates throughout Iraq. About 28% of Iraqi girls here get married before the age of 18. In such a situation, the proposed amendments are likely to worsen the situation. Human Rights Watch said such amendments would put young girls at increased risk of sexual and physical violence and deprive them of access to education and employment.
