He was executed at a cemetery in the western city of Hamedan on Tuesday morning. Nearly 200 women had accused 43-year-old Salamat, who runs a medicine shop and a gym, of rape. It was alleged that he had committed many crimes in the last 20 years. Iranian media reports say that in many cases, Salamat raped women after proposing marriage to them or during an affair.
Many women were given medicines and aborted after being raped.
It is alleged that after raping some women, the accused man also allegedly gave them abortion medicines, which is illegal in Iran. He was arrested in January.
