ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has for the first time acknowledged the presence of Khalistan supporters in his country. Till now Trudeau has remained silent on Khalistanis and has been supporting their anti-India activities. Many times Khalistanis have even targeted the Indian Embassy and insulted the tricolor. Despite repeated objections from India, Trudeau has not taken any action against Khalistanis till date. But now at least he has been forced to admit that a large number of Khalistanis are present in Canada.
However, Trudeau also said in his statement that all Khalistani supporters do not represent the Sikh community in Canada. Trudeau made this comment during Diwali celebrations at 'Parliament Hill' in Ottawa. “There are many supporters of Khalistan in Canada, but they do not represent the entire Sikh community,” he said.
Hindu PM Modi supporters
Trudeau also acknowledged that most Hindus living in Canada are supporters of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But Trudeau presented this matter in a different way. Just as Khalistanis do not represent all Sikhs. Similarly, the Hindu supporters of Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi's government in Canada also do not represent all the Hindus living in Canada.'' Let us tell you that in September 2023, Trudeau has blamed Indians for the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The possible involvement of agents was alleged. Since then there is tension in the relations between the two countries.
However, India rejected Trudeau's allegations as absurd. India says that the main issue between the two countries is that Canada is giving space to pro-Khalistan elements carrying out anti-India activities from its soil without any restriction. (Language)
