US Presidential Election 2024: Voting is going on for the US presidential election. A tough contest is expected between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to become the new President of America. American citizens are reaching the polling booth to vote in the elections. NASA has made a plan to ensure that no one is left behind in this process of voting. According to NASA's plan, astronauts will be able to vote even while in space. Four Americans are currently in space, who will exercise their voting rights. These include two Boeing Starliner astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who are stranded in space.
Sunita had said this
During a NASA press conference in September, Sunita Williams expressed her desire to vote from space, saying, “This is our vital duty as citizens, and I look forward to voting from space.” I am, which is great.”
What is the voting process?
Since 1997, NASA astronauts have been voting in elections from the space station. Astronauts have been voting through electronic ballot from the orbiting laboratory present in the space station. Electronic ballots are sent to the space station via satellite frequency, after which astronauts cast their votes. After this the electronic ballots are sent back to Earth.
