Islamabad: Terrorist incidents have increased in Pakistan in recent times. Now to crack down on terrorism, Pakistan has decided to launch a massive operation against terrorists in the south-western province of Balochistan. The federal apex committee for national action planning, which functions under the government, on Tuesday approved a massive military operation, it said in a statement.

The decision to launch the military operation was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and attended by senior civilian and military officials, including Army Chief General Asim Munir. The target of this operation will be the major terrorist organizations operating in Balochistan, including Majeed Brigade, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and Balochistan Raji Anju-ar-Sanger (BRAS), which are under the influence of Pakistan at the behest of external powers. Target innocent civilians and foreign nationals to disrupt economic progress.

The meeting chaired by PM Shehbaz Sharif discussed the security scenario, terrorism, general law and order situation, action against efforts to promote religious extremism, illegal organizations and crime-terrorism nexus, subversion and disinformation campaigns among other important challenges.
