Peshawar: A ceasefire agreement has been reached after days of clashes between two tribal groups in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. 130 people were killed in these clashes in the restive Kurram district. Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javadullah Mehsud has confirmed that peace has been established in the conflict areas of the restive Kurram district. Mehsud said that the district administration has been successful in establishing a ceasefire between the two tribal groups.
How is the situation in Kurram?
Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud said in a statement on Sunday that the Jirga (council of tribal leaders) will talk about opening the roads as well as signing the agreement. Due to the violence in Kurram, communication has come to a standstill, while mobile and internet services are suspended and educational institutions are also closed. The closure of the main highway has disrupted local transport and trade with Afghanistan has also been completely suspended. Due to this, common people are facing huge problems.
