Kathmandu: Nepal has accepted projects worth US$20 million as grant assistance from China. This information has come to light when Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is on a visit to China. This is Oli's first visit to China after assuming office as Prime Minister for the fourth time. Information and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung told reporters that it has been decided to accept projects worth US$20 million (about 2.70 billion Nepali rupees) as grant-in-aid from China.

According to government spokesperson Gurung, apart from this, the Cabinet has also decided to accept an amount of 300 million Chinese Yuan (about 41 lakh US dollars) for projects worth 5.60 billion Nepali rupees proposed by the Chinese government. Nepal's Prime Minister Oli left for a four-day official visit to China on Monday itself. During this visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on various issues of mutual interest. The Foreign Ministry has said that Oli is visiting Beijing at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

He had said, ''We have friendly relations with China. We give the highest priority to sovereignty, independence and freedom as well as national welfare and global well-being.
