Deir al-Balah: The death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 44,000 during the 13-month-long war between Israel and Hamas. Local health officials of Palestine gave information about this on Thursday. The Gaza Health Ministry does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its calculations, but has said more than half of the dead were women and children. The Israeli military has said, without providing any evidence, that it has killed more than 17,000 terrorists.
Thousands of people buried under the debris
The Health Ministry said 44,056 people have been killed and 104,268 injured since the war began. It has also been said that the actual death toll is higher because thousands of bodies remain buried under debris or in areas that doctors cannot reach. The situation in Gaza is such that people are not even getting food and water. Lakhs of people have also been displaced.
Gaza Israel Hamas War
Hamas had carried out a terrorist attack
The war between the two sides began when Hamas-led militants launched an attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people. During this time, Hamas fighters kidnapped 250 people, out of which about 100 people are still held hostage in Gaza, but it is believed that at least one third of them have died. (AP)
