Minneapolis: In-person voting began on Friday for the US presidential election to be held in November this year. With this, the six-week race to Election Day has begun after a period of political turmoil. Voters were seen standing in line to cast their votes in Minnesota, South Dakota and Virginia. These are the states where in-person voting has started first. About a dozen more states will vote by mid-October.

At a Minneapolis polling station, Jason Miller arrived well before voting opened at 8 a.m. and was first in line. He was one of about 75 people to cast their vote in the first hour at the city's polling station. Voters were seen lining up to vote. Some voters said they should not wait because of the possibility of hassle or chaos on election day. Chris Burda (74) said she is encouraging others to submit their ballots early to avoid possible disruptions on election day. Burda also revealed which candidate she voted for at the Minneapolis polling station.
