Dominica Highest National Honor to PM Narendra Modi: The government of the Caribbean country Dominica has said that it will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country's highest national award 'Dominica Award of Honor' this month. This award is being presented to Prime Minister Modi for his contribution to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his dedication towards strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
PM Modi will receive Dominica's highest honor
The President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvany Burton, will present the award during the India-CARICOM Summit to be held in Georgetown, Guyana from November 19 to 21, the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica said in a statement. “In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi supplied Dominica with 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine – a heart-warming gift that enables Dominica to support its other Caribbean neighbours,” the statement said. The statement said the award is in recognition of India's support to Dominica in healthcare, education and information technology under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, as well as to global climate-resilient construction initiatives and sustainable development. It also recognizes their role in promoting development.
Corona vaccine was sent to Dominica
The statement quoted Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as saying that the award is an expression of Dominica's gratitude for Prime Minister Modi's solidarity with Dominica and the wider region. “Prime Minister Modi has been a true partner to Dominica, especially in our time of need amid the global health crisis,” Skerritt said in the statement. It is an honor to present him with Dominica's highest national honour, as a symbol of our gratitude for his support and as a reflection of the strong ties between our countries. We look forward to building on this partnership and furthering our shared vision of progress and resilience.”
