Washington: An Indian-American lawmaker has demanded a ban on visas of senior Pakistani officials and freezing of their assets following reports of an alleged attempt to conceal the killings of peaceful protesters in Pakistan. Let us tell you that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party had taken out a protest march towards Islamabad demanding the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and four people were allegedly killed in the action taken by the authorities against this march. Killed and 50 people were injured. But PTI had claimed hundreds of deaths during this period.
Now Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna said, “I am shocked by the reports of efforts by the administration of Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir to hide the alleged killings of peaceful protesters.” Visas of senior officials should be banned and their assets should be frozen.'' MP Mickey Sherrill said he was deeply concerned by reports of violence in response to protests in Pakistan. “The people of Pakistan deserve a vibrant democracy, which includes the right to freedom of speech and expression,” he said.
Human rights also violated in Pakistan
There are also allegations of human rights violations in Pakistan. So last month, MP Greg Kaiser along with 60 other MPs wrote a letter to US President Joe Biden supporting human rights and democracy in Pakistan and calling for the release of political prisoners, including Khan. 'Carter Center', an NGO founded by former US President Jimmy Carter, in a statement expressed concern over this week's violence in Islamabad. The organization works on topics such as conflict resolution, democracy and human rights, disease and mental health care. (Language)
