Washington: 70 percent of American Hindus voted for Trump in the US presidential election. Therefore, now people of Hindu community will see what Trump does for India. Only after this will we be able to form any opinion about them. Right now Hindus hope that he will do good work for them and India. Indian-American leader Dr. Bharat Barai has said that people of the community voted for Donald Trump because of his strong reaction in favor of Bangladeshi Hindus.
He said that the newly elected President of America Trump had raised his voice on the crimes being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh during his election campaign. Now he will be judged on the basis of what he does after assuming office. Barai believes that about 70 percent of Hindu Americans voted for the Republican Party candidate in the presidential election held on November 5, but he did not provide any information regarding this claim. Barai did not cite any survey to corroborate this figure.
Hindus were angry with the Democrats
Barai said people in the community voted for Trump because they were disappointed with the Democratic Party using human rights as a “political weapon” for countries like India. He claimed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris did not express any strong reaction to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina in August. He said that the population of Hindu Americans may be small, but they are an important voter group. He said, “I believe that this time 70 percent of Hindu Americans voted for Trump.” Barai said this in the Diwali celebrations organized in the US Parliament House complex. (Language)
