Nairobi: At least 15 people have died and 113 others are missing after landslides hit six villages in eastern Uganda. Police has given this information. According to police, 15 injured people have been rescued and admitted to the hospital. The Uganda Red Cross Society said Thursday that 13 bodies had been recovered after landslides destroyed 40 houses. Rescue work is still going on.
The death toll may increase
Local media reported that officials feared the death toll could rise to 30. A landslide occurred in the hilly district of Bulambuli following heavy rain on Wednesday night. The district is about 280 kilometers east of the capital, Kampala. The situation looks very frightening.
