Video: Man arrives at tax collector's office with a garland of “ignored” complaints

The man said he had been reporting corruption cases for more than six years.

Bhopal:

A Madhya Pradesh man, who had allegedly ignored her corruption complaints for years, garlanded the documents and made an entry into the district collector's office that stunned everyone. Crawling across the road and then rolling down it, the man dragged behind him several more documents containing what he claimed was “evidence,” finally getting the attention he desperately sought.

Like every Tuesday, a public hearing was being held at the Neemuch district revenue collector’s office to address people’s grievances when Mukesh Prajapati was seen crawling on his elbows, with a garland of documents around him and several others sewn together with a rope dragging him along. As he started rolling down the road and headed towards the entrance, it emerged that Mr Prajapat had been complaining about alleged acts of corruption carried out by the sarpanch of his village, Kankariya, and claimed that he had not been listened to for over six years.

Shirtless and wearing a slipper on his head, Prajapati said: “I have been complaining about the corrupt sarpanch for six-seven years, but no action has been taken. I am not doing this out of self-interest. I am exposing corruption for the benefit of the country.”

Sub-divisional magistrate Mamta Khede told news agency PTI that Mr Prajapati had complained about a sarpanch and the Panchayat and Rural Development had already conducted an inquiry into the allegations levelled by him.

District Collector Himanshu Chandra said he has ordered a fresh inquiry into the complaints and sought a report within three days.

“A team has been asked to go to the village and investigate the allegations of corruption levelled by the man. I have asked that a report be submitted within three days and action will be taken accordingly,” Chandra said.

“This person, who is carrying complaint documents and evidence, reflects the helplessness of the Mohan Yadav government. His name is Mukesh Prajapati and he has reached the tax collector's office seeking justice,” the post on the Madhya Pradesh Congress account read in Hindi.
