Udaipur. Pratap Nagar police of the district took major action against the interstate smuggling gang and arrested three accused including the gang leader and seized a total of 16 quintals 42 kg of illegal opium, doda powder and an auto worth about Rs 1 crore 50 lakh.
SP Yogesh Goyal said that the police has arrested interstate smuggler Vinod Dhakad son of Suresh (35) and Pappu Singh son of Bagh Singh (35), resident of Badisadadi district Chittorgarh and Udaynath son of Nathu Nath (26), resident of Satola police station Jaloda Pratapgarh. Under the guise of parcels, the accused smuggle drugs from nearby areas of Rajasthan and MP to Punjab, Haryana and Delhi through travel buses.
As per the instructions of SP Goyal, in the campaign being conducted to arrest the smugglers smuggling illegal drugs in the district, under the supervision of ASP Umesh Aujha and CO Chhagan Rajpurohit, SHO Bharat Yogi May's team kept opium powder in a shop in front of Alakh Nayan Hospital. While packing the sawdust as a parcel, the main accused Vinod Dhakad and his two associates were arrested and a large quantity of opium, doda sawdust and auto were parked at the spot. Seized.
SP Goyal said that the arrested main accused Vinod Dhakad along with his associates Pappu Singh and Udaynath bring huge quantity of illegal opium doda powder from mill Nimbahera, Badi Saddi, Chittorgarh to their warehouse in Udaipur. Where to save them from police surveillance by packing them in cartoons, a new way is to smuggle their drugs in the form of chicken feed, put them in parcels in travel buses from Udaipur towards Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Earlier, cases have been registered against accused Vinod Dhakad and Udaynath in various police stations under NDPS and Arms Act. Accused Vinod Dhakad is wanted in the case of Badi Saddi, Chittorgarh police station.
