Kanpur . Two accused have been injured by bullets in the encounter between ganja smugglers and police in Maharajpur police station area. According to the police, 8 to 10 kg of drugs were recovered from these miscreants.
This encounter took place late night between police and ganja smugglers in Maharajpur police station area. Giving information about the matter, SK Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East, said that the police had received information that miscreants riding on a scooter were bringing drugs through the KanpurPrayagraj Highway. When the already prepared police team tried to stop them, they opened fire on the police and two miscreants were injured in the retaliatory firing.
SK Singh said, “For the last few days, the police was continuously receiving information that some people are engaged in drug smuggling. Even on Tuesday evening, when information was received in this matter, the police team tried to stop the miscreants. On this the miscreants fired on the police and two accused were injured by the bullets.
He further said, “A large quantity of drugs have been recovered from these people. In this case, action has been taken as per the instructions of the Police Commissioner, according to which whoever supplies drugs is supplying wrong things in the society. In this connection, I have also given a reward of Rs 25,000 to the police team. This action has been taken as per the intention of the government and the police commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner said that these people used to supply ganja and about 8 to 10 kg of goods were found with them.
In the footage that has surfaced of this incident, the scooty of the miscreants has fallen on one side of the road. Both the miscreants were injured due to police firing. Apart from this, a pistol has also been recovered from them.
