The Atru police of the district has revealed the theft of gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 4.50 lakh cash that took place 11 months ago from a market trader in the town and arrested two accused, Sumit Mali, son of Sundar Lal (21) and Ajay Mali, son of Satyanarayan. (25) Resident Haat Chok Atru was arrested and 16 tola gold and one kilogram of stolen silver jewelery were recovered.
SP Rajkumar Chaudhary said that on the night of January 7, unknown thieves entered the house of businessman Naval Kishore Mahajan (64) in Atru town and stole about 54 tola gold and 4 kg silver jewelery and Rs 4,50,000 in cash. A case was registered against the report and investigation was started.
Instructions were given by SP Raj Kumar Chaudhary and Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chaudhary to curb the increasing thefts and expose this matter. Under the supervision of senior officer circle Atru Pushpendra Aadha, a cyber team was formed from SHO Chuttan Lal Meena May Japta and the office of Superintendent of Police. With the help of technical assistance and informers, the main accused of theft Sumit Mali and Ajay Mali were detained and interrogated by the formed team.
About 16 tola gold jewelery and 01 kg silver jewelery stolen from the arrested accused have been seized. Both the accused have been arrested and the remaining goods have been recovered and investigation is also going on about other accused involved in the theft.
