The accused caught during police interrogation have told that both of them, along with another associate Sonu, withdraw people's money by changing ATM cards. They often live near such ATMs, where illiterate or less educated people come in large numbers to withdraw money. Whenever such a person enters the ATM to withdraw money, one of these associates goes inside the ATM and stands behind that person and looks at his card password. When the person is unable to withdraw the money due to any reason, then they falsely try to withdraw the money themselves by offering his help. Meanwhile the victim's card is replaced.
The miscreants told that the money is withdrawn after the victim leaves the ATM. When the victim gets his ATM card blocked, it is also used for further fraud.
