New Delhi . PM Internship Scheme has started getting good response since its launch. According to government sources, 1,55,109 candidates have registered for the recently launched PM Internship Scheme in just 24 hours.
The registration process for the scheme started on Saturday, more than 90 thousand internship opportunities are available in 24 sectors on the portal.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced this scheme while presenting the budget of 2024. The scheme aims to provide employment opportunities to approximately 1 crore youth in the next five years.
The objective of this scheme is to remove youth unemployment and to prepare these youth with training and connect them with companies looking for talent.
Leading private companies such as Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, L&T, Muthoot Finance and Reliance Industries are among the 193 companies that have posted internship opportunities on the platform.
Internships are available in 24 sectors and more than 20 areas, including operations management, production, maintenance and sales. The initiative has also been supported by sectors such as oil, gas, energy, travel and hospitality, automotive and banking.
The portal provides access to aspirants seeking internships in various sectors through tools such as Aadhaarbased registration and biodata generation.
The scheme aims to provide more than 1.2 lakh internships in 737 districts across 28 states and 8 union territories in the current financial year.
Apart from this, top companies are also offering such positions which can help in promoting employment.
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which is managing the scheme, it is a transformative initiative of the government to ensure upskilling of the youth, thereby enhancing their employability.
Youth selected for the scheme will get an opportunity to intern in India's top 500 companies for one year and will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 and a onetime grant of Rs 6,000.
To apply for the scheme, candidates must have passed high school or higher secondary school with a certificate from ITI or diploma from a polytechnic institute. Apart from this, one must be a graduate with BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BCA, BBA, B. Pharma etc. degrees.
Candidates can register themselves on the portal through pminternship.mcm.gov.in.
