Guwahati City:
A day after a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped in North Tripura district, another minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped in South Tripura district while returning from school.
Sources said a case was filed at the Belonia Women's Police Station, claiming that a fifth-grade student did not return home after school.
Her father told local media that they feared their daughter might have been kidnapped, so they tried to find her by asking people at school.
When they couldn't find her, they asked the police for help and filed a complaint. The girl was found near her home on Saturday night.
“Yesterday, we received information that a Grade 5 student had not returned home from school. Therefore, we started an investigation and came to know that a man had abandoned her near her house. He was identified as a 22-year-old man from the same area. We have filed a first report and have started an investigation,” said a police officer.
The accused has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
No one has been arrested so far. According to sources, the minor was taken to several places, where she was sexually assaulted.
On Friday, in another case, police had arrested two men for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl in North Tripura district. Both the accused were from the same district. They allegedly kidnapped her when she went to a shop on Thursday night and took her to a nearby jungle where they sexually assaulted her.
The woman was found unconscious on a road by local residents, who took her to a hospital and informed her family.
Last month, police arrested two minors for raping a girl in South Tripura district.
