Barmer. Special team of Barmer district and Rageshwari police station have recovered a huge quantity of illegal liquor made in Punjab from Gujarat number tanker during the blockade on Mega Highway. Police seized 388 cartoons of illegal English liquor of different brands found in the tanker and arrested the accused Ramesh Giri, son of Ishwar Giri, resident of Shivnagar police station Sadar Barmer. The value of the seized liquor is estimated to be around Rs 45 lakh.
SP Narendra Singh Meena said that a special campaign “Operation Bhaukaal” is being run in the district on the instructions of IG Jodhpur Range to prevent liquor smuggling and arrest smugglers. Under this campaign, a blockade was done on the Mega Highway near Naya Nagar by the team under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Jasaram Bose and CO Sukhram Bishnoi and SHO Adesh Kumar and DST incharge ASI Amin Khan.
During the blockade, a Gujarat number tanker was seen coming, which was stopped and searched. During the search, the police seized 388 cartoons of different brands of Punjab made English liquor found in the tanker and arrested the accused driver Ramesh Giri under the Excise Act. The accused is being interrogated in connection with the buying and selling of illegal liquor.
Head constable Nar Singh and constable Ramesh Kumar of the special team of Barmer district played a special role in this action. In this case, advance investigation is being done by registering a case under Excise Act at Rageshwari police station.
