Hyderabad: Senior police officer counsels 107 rioters

Hyderabad:On Thursday, ahead of the Ganesha festival, North Zone Police Officer S. Rashmi Perumal counselled 107 protesters about their behaviour and urged them to behave well. The police were keeping a close watch on their regular activities and would take strict action if they indulged in anti-social acts. Groups of protesters who maintained good behaviour would be shut down, Police Officer Perumal said.

Woman tries to kill her children and ends her life; one manages to escape

Hyderabad City: A woman tried to kill her children and committed suicide in a lake on Thursday, but one of the children managed to escape, Ibrahimpatnam police said. A search is on for the other child.

According to Ibrahimpatnam Inspector Satyanarayana, the victims were a 38-year-old woman and one of her sons. While her son managed to escape, a search is on for her daughter. The victims have not been identified to protect the identity of the minors.

BRS social media coordinator arrested

Hyderabad:The city cybercrime police on Thursday reportedly arrested BRS social media coordinator Konatam Dilip Kumar. He was accused of posting the video of a rape victim in Jainoor. The incident had triggered riots in the city in Asifabad district.

According to police sources, the police have confiscated his mobile phone and the technical team is recovering the data.

Police perform CPR and save a man who was committing suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad City: Police personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and rescued a man who had fallen unconscious during a suicide attempt in Regimental Bazaar on Thursday. Police said the survivor was in financial trouble.

When he tried to commit suicide, neighbours called the police, according to Gopalapuram inspector Godeshi Naresh. Police went to the house but found it locked from the inside. Police broke open the door and rescued the unconscious survivor.

Constable G. Srinivas and home constable Mallesh Yadav performed CPR on the survivor. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance and was said to be recovering.

Missing woman with 3 children

Hyderabad:Maduranagar police are searching for a woman who left her house in Rahmatnagar along with her three children after a fight with her husband on Wednesday. Deccan Chronicle is not naming them as the children are minors.

Police said the husband, a security guard, had quarreled with his wife after lunch and left for work. Unable to reach her by phone, he rushed home to find it locked and his family missing.

After searching for her with her relatives, he lodged a complaint with the Maduranagar police. The police registered a case and started tracing the wife's mobile phone and CCTV footage and are searching for them at railway and bus stations.

Man sentenced to 18 months in prison for negligent driving in Medchal district

Hyderabad City: The additional metropolitan magistrate of Medchal district on Thursday sentenced Gurram Srinivas of Lingala Ghanpur to 18 months of rigorous imprisonment for causing death of a person due to negligent driving. Srinivas was arrested by Ghatkesar police in 2018 for hitting a pedestrian while driving a car. Srinivas was shifted to Cherlapally Central Jail by police escort.

Burglary reported at Patnam's sister's house

Hyderabad:A robbery was reported at the house of Padmaja, the sister of Patnam MP Mahinder Reddy. Around 15 tolas of gold and Rs 300,000 in cash were found missing. A case was registered on Tuesday.

According to Rajendranagar district inspector Kastro, the suspect had been working in the house as a helper for about four years. The suspect is currently on the run.

4 arrested for jewelry theft

Hyderabad City: Jagadgirigutta police and Balanagar Coordination Vigilance Branch arrested four persons on Wednesday noon for alleged theft from a jewellery shop after diverting the attention of the shopkeeper by tracking them through CCTV footage. With their arrest, police said, five more cases of theft have been solved.

The accused were identified as Bojjagani Dheenamma, Bojjagani Nagendramma, Venkat Ravamma and Balasaani Ashok, all from Khammam district. Bojjagani Gnanamma and Balasani Venkatapathi, the driver of his vehicle, are absconding.

Police said the gang was divided into two teams. Two women would enter the jewellery shop as customers, divert the attention of the salesman and replace the original items with fake gold. The men would cover for them. Police said Dheenamma was involved in 11 cases, Nagendramma and Venkat Ravamma in 12 cases each.

Rachakonda police recover 591 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 20 crore in 25 days

Hyderabad:Rachakonda police have recovered 591 lost or stolen mobile phones worth Rs 20 crore with the help of CEIR portal, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu said on Thursday. The recoveries were made within a span of 25 days.

Of the phones, 339 were recovered from LB Nagar, 149 from Malkajgiri and 103 from Bhongir. Rachakonda police have recovered 3,213 mobile phones so far this year.

Sudheer Babu handed over the mobile phones to their owners and interacted with them. He also sought their opinion on the functioning of the police.
