Ghaziabad. Ghaziabad's Kotwali Nagar police station team has arrested two criminals during an encounter. Police have recovered illegal weapons and a bike from them.
During the encounter, one of the two criminals got injured after being shot in the leg. After which the police arrested him, while the other criminal was caught during combing. Several cases of robbery and theft are registered against these two in different police stations. Recently, they had also robbed a woman near Railway Station Road.
Assistant Police Commissioner Ritesh Tripathi has said that the police was checking suspicious vehicles and suspicious people on the way to Vijay Nagar. During this time, the police saw two people coming on a bike from the darkness near Lemon Park. When they were signaled to stop, they turned the bike and started running away.
When the police chased them, the criminals opened fire on them. In the retaliatory action of the police, one criminal was injured after being shot in the leg. Meanwhile, the police arrested the injured criminal, while the other was caught during combing operation.
Ritesh Tripathi said that the name of the criminal who was shot is Wasim and the other one's name is Qadir. Wasim and Qadir used to commit robbery in Kotwali Sihani Gate, Vijay Nagar and surrounding areas. Two cases are registered against Qadir and seven cases are registered against Wasim in different police stations.
He said that both of them have confessed to many incidents. Police is also investigating their criminal history.
