Thane. Thane Crime Branch took major action in the Badlapur sexual exploitation case. The Crime Branch has arrested the school president Uday Kotwal and secretary Tushar Apte.
Thane Crime Branch will now hand over both the accused to the SIT, which is investigating this entire matter. These arrests came after the Bombay High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Uday Kotwal and Secretary Tushar Apte.
Let us tell you that a sanitation worker had sexually harassed two minor girls. The main accused in this case, Akshay Shinde, was killed in a police encounter. According to the information, Akshay Shinde was being transferred from Taloja jail to Badlapur. During this time, he allegedly snatched a weapon from a policeman and opened fire. He was injured in retaliatory action by the police and later died during treatment in the hospital.
The court also raised questions on the encounter of main accused Shinde. The court had asked the Maharashtra government, “How can we accept that four officers could not handle one accused. He was also handcuffed. If there was a situation like selfdefense, then the accused would have been shot in the leg and not in the head.”
A commission has been formed to investigate this encounter. The commission will investigate how Akshay Shinde died and will also analyze its causes and consequences. The Commission will investigate whether any individual, group or organisation, was directly or indirectly responsible for the incident. The Commission will investigate what actions the police took during the incident and conduct a detailed investigation of all aspects related to it.
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) also criticized the state government regarding this encounter. Supriya Sule had said that the attitude of the Mahayuti government in the Badlapur sexual harassment case is appalling! First there was a delay in filing the FIR and now the main accused has been murdered in custody! This shows a complete failure of the justice system. This denies the people of Maharashtra the justice they deserve.
