Call for IFS trainee officers of the 2023 promotion in PM

New Delhi: Indian Foreign Service (IFS) trainee officers of the 2023 batch called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Thursday morning in New Delhi. There are 36 IFS trainee officers in the 2023 batch from 15 different states and Union Territories.

The officer candidates praised the success of the foreign policy under the leadership of the Prime Minister and sought his suggestions and guidance for their upcoming new assignments. The Prime Minister suggested that they should always carry the country’s culture with them with pride and dignity and try to showcase it wherever they are posted.

He spoke of overcoming colonial mentality in all spheres of life, including personal conduct, and instead behaving as proud representatives of the country. The Prime Minister also discussed how the perception of the country is changing on the global stage. He said, “We now engage with the world on equal terms, with mutual respect and dignity.” He spoke about how India handled the Covid pandemic compared to other nations.

He also mentioned the country's march towards becoming the third largest economy. The Prime Minister also suggested that the trainee officers expand their engagement with the Indian diaspora when they are posted abroad.
