AP govt deploys 176 drones for flood relief operations

Vijayawada: Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Sunday stressed that in keeping with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's emphasis on using cutting-edge technology, they have used 176 drones to carry out relief operations.

Atchannaidu, who briefed Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh about the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken by the state government, highlighted that they started using drones from day one. Till date, they have helped 123,000 flood victims.

The Agriculture Minister explained that 115 drones have been deployed to deliver food and medicine to the needy. 50 drones helped the government monitor the flood situation before extending aid. 11 drones were used to carry out spraying operations to eliminate germs and pests, thereby controlling the spread of diseases.

Atchannaidu said a team of technical experts led by Dr Satyanarayana of the Directorate of Research at Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University collaborated with Drone Corporation to carry out these innovative operations, producing unprecedented positive results.

The Minister noted that one must always be like a perpetual student, continuously learning about global changes, as the CM has frequently advocated at ministerial meetings.

He said the extensive use of drones to help victims during natural disasters has been praised by several ministers and senior officials from various departments.
