An elderly man who was out for a walk in Meerut was thrown by a bull

Kripal Singh is a resident of Ganganagar Block B in Meerut.

An elderly man out for an evening stroll was thrown into the air by a bull, a disturbing video from Uttar Pradesh shows. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place in Meerut, nearly 300 kilometres from the state capital Lucknow.

In the video, now widely circulating on social media, 85-year-old Kripal Singh is seen walking along the side of a busy road when he is suddenly attacked by a bull. Kripal Singh is thrown several feet into the air before falling to the ground.

Mr Singh suffered serious injuries to his head and abdomen. The attack with the bull's horns caused his intestines to protrude from his abdomen. Local traders took the man to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

Mr Singh, a resident of Ganganagar Block B in Meerut, used to stroll around the Rajendrapuram market, where his son's electronics shop is located. He would stroll there every morning and evening as part of his daily routine.

The increasing number of stray and feral animals in Uttar Pradesh has become a serious problem. Over the past year, the state's animal husbandry minister, Dharmpal Singh, has made several statements promising to address the problem by capturing stray cattle and sending them to shelters.
