New Delhi . Tata Group plans to create five lakh jobs in the battery, semiconductor, electric vehicle and solar sectors in the next five years. This statement was given by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Thursday.
In an annual letter to the group's employees, Chandrasekaran wrote, “These jobs will come from Tata Group's factories and projects being built across India, which will produce batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment and other critical hardware. All these sectors Will play a big role in the economy in the coming times.
He further wrote, “This is in addition to the jobs we provide in other sectors like retail, tech services, airlines and hospitality.
Giving brief information about the achievements of the company which manufactures everything from salt to software for 2024, Chandrasekaran said that the foundation stone of a total of seven new manufacturing units was laid this year. This includes India's first semiconductor fab plant in Dholera, Gujarat and an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facility in Assam.
He further elaborated that the group has an electronics assembly plant in Narasapura, Karnataka, an automotive plant in Panpakkam, Tamil Nadu and new MRO facilities in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
We also have new battery cell manufacturing factories in Sanand, Gujarat and Somerset, UK. We inaugurated the C295 Final Assembly Line (FAEL) in Vadodara, Gujarat and started solar module production in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
This year, TCS and Tejas Networks have jointly built the first indigenous 4G mobile telecom stack for BSNL and is now 5G ready as well.
Chandrasekaran told the employees that our retail companies are continuously performing well. Under Air India, four airlines have been integrated into one airline group and is ready to serve India and the world. The Taj brand of Indian Hotels remains the strongest hotel brand in the world.
The Chairman of Tata Sons further said that together with the UK Government, we have announced an investment of 1.25 billion pounds for high quality and low carbon steel production in South Wales.
Further said that AI in mobility and healthcare will benefit the entire humanity. The manufacturing sector has the potential to transform India's economy.
