New hybrid scooter concept to be presented at EICMA on November 5
German automotive giant Schaeffler has teamed up with scooter manufacturer Kymco to develop a hybrid scooter concept, which will be presented at the 110th EICMA international trade fair in Milan from November 710. The concept is based on Kymco's DTX 360 model, which incorporates unique mechanical integration.
The magic of exemplary engineering
Combined with Kimco's technical expertise, Schaeffler has leveraged the knowledge gained from its merger with Vitesco. This hybrid scooter has two compact Electric Drive Control Units (eDCU), which ensure intelligent management of the emachine. In addition, the M4REK control unit is equipped with integrated electronic throttle and sensors to control airflow.
Innovative Powertrain Solutions
Scheffler's stall at EICMA was 'Mind. set. The event will be based on the theme 'Future', showcasing various solutions for low voltage electric scooters, chainless drives for ebikes, and motorcycles with high efficiency combustion engine technology. Matthias Zink, CEO of Schaeffler AG, said, “Our new hybrid scooter concept demonstrates the high level of our system knowledge in 2wheeler powertrain applications.”
target till 2030
Schaeffler projects global twowheeler and powersports production to grow to 80 million units by 2030, while production of electric twowheelers is expected to double to about 30 million units. In this context, Schaeffler's product portfolio is perfectly aligned with the requirements that stimulate the growth of this sector.
Inclusion of solutions and technology
Schaeffler's exhibition will showcase turnkey solutions for 2wheelers with 48volt drive. These solutions include an EDCU control unit and a 48volt electric machine, ensuring high control accuracy. This integrated system adapts the drive perfectly to the riding profile of the escooter, offering a costefficient and compact design.
This hybrid scooter concept from Schaeffler not only represents progress from a technological point of view, but is also an important step towards new emobility solutions. The global launch of this launch at EICMA 2024 will also boost the growing trend towards electric and hybrid scooters in the Indian market.
