New Delhi. During the festive season, sales of electric twowheelers have seen an increase of 85 percent compared to last year. A total of 1,39,031 EV twowheelers were sold in October. Last year this figure was 75,164 units. The increasing sales of EV vehicles shows that people's inclination is gradually shifting from petrol vehicles to electric vehicles.
A total of 9,54,164 electric twowheelers have been sold in the first 10 months of the calendar year 2024. There has been an increase of 38 percent on annual basis. In the same period last year, this figure was 6,92,363.
In October 2024, 41,605 units have been sold by Ola Electric, a company facing difficulties regarding service and product quality. The company had sold 27,615 units in August and 24,716 units in September.
2024 has been full of ups and downs so far for Ola Electric. In January this year, the company had sold 32,424 units. In March, sales increased to an alltime high of 53,640 units. During this period, the company's market share had increased to 38 percent, but after this the sales of Ola Electric continued to decline and in September the market share came down to 27 percent.
Apart from this, there has also been an increase in the sales of other EV twowheeler companies. TVS Motor has sold 29,890 EV twowheelers. An increase of 81 percent was seen in this on annual basis. In October 2023, this figure was 16,507 units. The company's market share in October was 21 percent.
In September, TVS Motors was at third place after Bajaj among EV twowheelers, but in October it has again come to second place.
TVS sold 166,581 iQubes in 2023, which was 94,641 units more than Bajaj Auto's 71,940 Chetak. This gap has reduced significantly in the current year, which now stands at 27,164 units.
