San Francisco. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is planning to launch its new AI model 'Orion' in December this year, which can be 100 times more powerful than GPT4.
According to a report, like last time, OpenAI will not immediately make this model available to everyone through ChatGPT. First, there is a plan to give access to it to some companies, so that they can develop their products and features.
Microsoft is also preparing to bring this model to its cloud platform in November.
OpenAI's goal is to combine all of its language models to create a super AI that could be called “Artificial General Intelligence” (AGI).
The launch of Orion is significant for OpenAI, as the company recently received $6.6 billion in funding, taking its valuation to $157 billion. Additionally, OpenAI is now shaping up to be a profitable company.
Last month, three key executives of OpenAI, including CTO Mira Muratti, left the company. Of the 13 people who helped found OpenAI in 2015, only three remain at the company. According to the report, Murati is now raising funds for her own AI startup.
The new funding in OpenAI was led by previous investor Thrive Capital. The VC firm invested approximately $1.3 billion. Microsoft reportedly invested a little less than $1 billion, while Nvidia invested $100 million and SoftBank reportedly $500 million.
OpenAI said this new funding will help them continue to pioneer their AI research, expand computing power, and create new tools to help people solve tough problems.
