New Delhi . Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has tied up with Nokia to strengthen 4G and 5G networks in India. On Saturday, Nokia said that a threeyear agreement has been signed between the two companies.
Nokia and Vodafone Idea will together launch 5G network in major cities of the country, which will also provide premium connectivity to VIL customers.
VIL CEO Akshay Mundra said, 5G's highspeed connectivity will be helpful for both citizens and enterprises. We look forward to working together with our partners for 5G highspeed connectivity.
Nokia said it will also update VIL's existing 4G network with multiband radios and baseband equipment to also support 5G.
Let us tell you that Vodafone Idea has signed an agreement worth about $ 3.6 billion (about Rs 30,000 crore) with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for the supply of network equipment over a period of three years. The company had earlier announced capital expenditure of $6.6 billion.
The company has said that with the launch of 5G in major cities, the coverage of 4G on the basis of population is to be increased from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion.
