San Francisco: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Sunday backed Telegram founder Pavel Durov and said Mark Zuckerberg should be arrested for the “massive child abuse” problem on his Metaowned Instagram.
Billionaire Musk reacted after Russianborn Pavel Durov, the founder and owner of the popular encrypted messaging app Telegram, was arrested in France on several charges related to his platform. If convicted, Durov could face up to 20 years in prison.
Musk said Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg “has already come under censorship pressure.”
“Instagram has a serious child exploitation problem, but Zuckerberg doesn't get arrested because he censors free speech and gives governments backdoor access to user data,” X's owner posted.
The tech billionaire noted, “To support freedom of speech, it's important that you forward XPost to people you know, especially in countries with censorship.”
In February this year, Zuckerberg apologised to the families of victims of online child sexual abuse during a Senate hearing at Capitol Hill.
The billionaire entrepreneur told the children's parents, “I'm sorry for what you all have gone through. No one should have to go through what your families have gone through.”
“That's why we invest so much, and we're going to make sure no one has to go through what your families have gone through,” he said.
It is worth noting that the rivalry between Musk and Zuckerberg is well known.
