New Delhi . Luxury carmaker MercedesBenz India is planning to introduce at least eight new models in 2025 after the company performed well in the domestic market last year with sales of 19,565 units. The company had recorded the highest sales ever. The increase in sales was seen due to increased demand for highend cars in a fastgrowing economy.
According to Santosh Iyer, MD, MercedesBenz India, the roadmap for 2025 is clear and the company will “focus on the product portfolio and increase luxury touch points across India”.
The German automobile manufacturer plans to invest Rs 450 crore in India over the next three years and is targeting to launch 20 new touchpoints by the end of this year.
MercedesBenz India is also planning to launch its muchawaited model 'AMG GLE 53 Coupe' by the second quarter this year.
Last year, the automaker reported 12.4 percent yearonyear growth and all four quarters were “really strong.”
According to Iyer, the strong growth in the second half of last year was made possible by “the newly launched, longwheelbase EClass in our electric car portfolio.”
Meanwhile, the share of EVs in MercedesBenz India's overall car portfolio crossed 6 per cent last year, marking a 94 per cent yearonyear increase in penetration.
Last year, the automaker launched its new 'AMG C 63 S E Performance' model equipped with F1 hybrid technology in 2024, which is priced at Rs 1.95 crore. The company aims to increase sales of its highend vehicles, which are priced above Rs 1.5 crore.
The growth in luxury car sales also reflects the rising income of the upper middle class, as the Indian economy is emerging as the fastest growing economy in the world.
This is also reflected in the higher number of income taxpayers in the income bracket of more than Rs 1 crore.
