Due to the support of the Central Government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, iPhone production in the country has increased to $ 10 billion in the first seven months of the current financial year (FY 2025). This information was given by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
According to the information, out of the $10 billion produced by Apple between April and October this year, iPhones worth about $7 billion have been exported.
In the financial year 2024, a total of iPhones worth $14 billion were manufactured in India. Out of this, iPhones worth more than $10 billion were exported.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav wrote on social media platform X that this is another milestone in 7 months for the smartphone PLI scheme.
The minister said that during this period, a total of iPhones worth $10 billion have been produced by Apple. Out of this, $7 billion has been exported. Including iPhone exports, total smartphones worth $10.6 billion were exported from India during the review period.
Union Minister Vaishnav further said that the Apple ecosystem has created 1,75,000 direct employment opportunities in the last four years. In this, more than 72 percent employment has been provided to women.
The Californiabased tech giant has exported iPhones worth Rs 60,000 crore (about $7 billion) from India in the first seven months of the current financial year, according to industry data. In the AprilOctober period, the company exported iPhones worth about Rs 8,450 crore (about $1 billion) every month.
The company's CEO Tim Cook said, “Apple has set a record for the highest revenue ever in India in the JulySeptember period. We are excited by the excitement we are seeing in India. This year has been extraordinary for Apple.” Used to be.”
Due to increasing demand for iPhone, Apple's income in FY 24 increased by 36 percent on annual basis to Rs 66,700 crore. During this period the company had earned a profit of Rs 2,746 crore.
