Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone will soon be launched in China. The company has also recently announced its launch. In recent weeks, rumours have also hinted at the expected specifications of this innovative device and its prototype has allegedly been spotted in the hands of a top company official. Ahead of its much-awaited debut, the name of the smartphone has been confirmed and it will be the latest addition to the Huawei Mate series of devices.
Huawei Mate XT release date
In a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, confirmed that the company's first tri-fold smartphone will be known as the Huawei Mate XT. According to the official, it is the result of five years of “persistence and investment,” turning “science fiction into reality.”
The Huawei Mate XT will be launched in China on September 10 at 14:30 local time (12:00 IST) at the company's upcoming ceremony. Apart from the phone, the Chinese smartphone maker is also expected to make announcements related to HarmonyOS intelligent driving products.

The Huawei Mate XT has already been spotted in public several times in the hands of Richard Yu. Being a three-part foldable smartphone, it is reported to have three distinct sections for the display: two internal displays and one external display, joined together by a double-hinge mechanism.
The inner display measures 10 inches and there appears to be a hole-punch cutout for the front camera on the left-most display. Meanwhile, the rear of the Huawei Mate XT may sport a circular camera module with a ring design. Under the hood, it may be powered by a Kirin 9 series chipset which is also rumoured to power the rumoured Huawei Mate 70 series.
In terms of pricing, Huawei’s tri-fold foldable smartphone is reported to be one of the most expensive foldable phones in the mass market, outperforming even the most expensive variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It may come with an exorbitant price tag, with reports speculating the cost of the production model to be around CNY 29,000 or $4,000 (roughly Rs. 3,35,000).
