New Delhi . Be it web browsing or searching something. When we open the internet, the first name that comes to our mind is 'Google'. For most of the work on the Internet, from surfing, browsing, downloading to search engines, we are largely dependent on Google or Googlerelated things.
Most of us and you use Google extensively, but do you know how Google started? How this search engine got its name Google due to a mistake?
Actually, the search engine Google was the brainchild of famous American technocrats Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Both of them worked together in the Computer Science Department of Stand Ford University, America. Both were trying to make the World Wide Web similar and easier for people. In this sequence, both of them established Google Inc. on 7 September 1998. Both of them created the search engine Google.Stanford.edu on the internet.
After this, Google's birthday started being celebrated on 7th September. Later it was changed to 8 September and then to 26 September. Many years later, the company announced to celebrate its birthday officially on 27th September. The reason behind this was that Google had created a new record of its search engine page search number on this day. Meaning, we get to see pages like 1,2,3,4 etc. at the bottom of the Google page, the biggest record of its usage was made by the company on this day. For this reason, Google changed the official date of celebrating its birthday to 27th September.
At present, many programs like YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps and Android are ahead of Google's search engine. All of them work individually, which gives Google a huge amount of traffic in the world apart from being a search engine. This is the reason why Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. is currently one of the largest companies in the world.
When Larry Page and Sergey Brin were thinking of creating their search engine, they had decided to name it 'Backrub'. Both were moving ahead with their plan to keep the same name. But, due to lack of consensus in the university, the idea of this name was dropped. Then, it was decided to name this search engine 'Google', which means 'Ten to the Power Hundred'. Which means in any number there are ninety nine zeros after ten i.e. a total of hundred zeros. The purpose of showing this huge number (almost infinite number) was to show the unlimited capacity of this search engine.
In simple words, it referred to Google's ability to show unlimited results as per the user's request. In the spelling of the name 'Google', OL was to come after G, double OG. But, due to a typing error while purchasing the domain, its name became Google. In this way the world's largest search engine was named Google.
After this, Google became famous in the world due to its clean user interface and excellent search results. Due to these two main reasons, the popularity of this search engine kept increasing day by day. After this, as the company kept getting funding, the company kept launching new products and services.
