New Delhi . Global tablet shipments grew 15 percent in the second quarter of this year, despite historically slow periods.
According to Counterpoint Research's latest 'Global Tablet Market Tracker', the market rebounded in the second quarter of 2024 as Apple and Samsung launched new products, while there were no new releases last year. Apart from this, other players in the market also showed strong figures.
Research associate Kevin Lee said the return of market leaders like Apple and Samsung to normal model release schedules signals an optimistic outlook for 2024.
Li said that in addition to Apple and Samsung, Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi have also accelerated the growth of the tablet market by introducing a diverse range of models, which further increased demand.
Shipments to the worldwide tablet market for the remainder of this year look promising, including the new Apple iPad and Apple iPad mini as well as Samsung's flagship S series.
Commenting on the immediate outlook for the tablet market, Associate Director Liz Lee said, “While demand remains at healthy levels due to improving macroeconomic conditions, we expect the contribution from emerging market regions to increase in 2024.”
Huawei maintained its position in the top three with consistent model releases. Xiaomi nearly doubled its shipments, with growth contributed by emerging markets, particularly in the APAC and MEA regions.
Counterpoint's report said continued launches from Apple and Samsung will drive growth in the second half of 2024.
