Additionally, Apple Intelligence will take up to 2GB of RAM, meaning users will need more RAM than they want or have to deal with performance slowdowns in other iPhone features. Plus, there's the possibility of reduced battery performance, which once again threatens to undermine everything else on the device.
Bottom line: This initial release will likely not only consume battery and RAM, but will also be smaller and therefore less powerful than most other genAI implementations. That’s a recipe for buyer’s remorse.
Then there's the issue for app developers. First, it will take some time for them to work with Apple's API and deliver versions of their apps that work well with Apple Intelligence. Other developers may wonder whether it's in their best interest to adopt Apple Intelligence. Once they allow Apple to effortlessly grab their data and deliver it to them via Siri, doesn't that diminish the value of their standalone app? And doesn't that undermine their monetization strategies?
