Gemini now lets you use custom gems on your smartphones

The Gemini app for iOS and Android is adding artificial intelligence (AI) agents called Gems. These custom chatbots were first rolled out to users on the web version of Gemini in August. The company is now rolling them out to the mobile app as well, allowing users to create and use chatbots tailored for specific purposes. In addition to adding Gems, Google has also redesigned the home page on both the web and mobile versions of Gemini.

Agency staff members noticed that gems are now available in the Gemini app on Android. The addition of the feature also slightly changes the look of the app. Instead of the Recent Section where users can view notification suggestions and recently used notifications, the area displays the title Chat and Gems.

Screenshots of the new feature also reveal how it appears within the app. To access the gems, users will need to click on their profile icon located at the top right of the screen. Gem Manager The option is visible below the Extensions option.

Clicking on it will reveal three tabs: All, Your Gems, and By Google. The second option will display custom AI agents created by the user, while the third option will display default gems created by the tech giant. These include Learning Coach, Idea Generator, Career Guide, Writing Editor, and Coding Partner.

Gems can be thought of as the miniature version of Gemini. They contain a limited set of data relevant to their purpose. Once created, Gems can process messages faster and more accurately than the general-purpose chatbot. It is worth noting that Gems are only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers.

In addition to the addition of AI agents to the mobile app, Google is also redesigning the Gemini homepage, both in the app version and the web client. In the existing version, opening the interface displays a welcome message and the text “How can I help you today?” in large print. Various suggestions then appear in a carousel.

However, in the new version of the home page, only the text “How can I help you?” has been added in smaller font. The interface is minimalistic and does not overwhelm the user with information. Message suggestions, as well as the option to start a new chat, are located within a chat icon located at the top left.
