New Delhi. The Transport Ministry of the Delhi Government has put 320 more electric buses on the roads of Delhi. Delhi Government's Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot flagged off these buses. After these 320 electric buses hit the roads, now a total of 1,970 buses will provide services to the people of Delhi.
The Delhi government has claimed that with these 320 new buses, Delhi has become the first city in the country and the third city in the world where the maximum number of electric buses are running.
Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that first of all I want to congratulate the people of Delhi, Delhi government has achieved another milestone. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's vision was to provide an excellent transport system to the people of Delhi. Fulfilling this vision, today Delhi has got additional 320 electric buses.
He said that if we talk about development, then transport comes the most in it and in the last several years, we have upgraded the bus fleet a lot. Both convenience and safety have been provided in them. With these buses hitting the road, at present 1,970 electric buses are providing their services in Delhi.
A few days ago, the Delhi government started the trial of Mohalla bus services. These bus services will operate on two routes. These routes are from Pradhan Enclave Pushta to Majlis Park Metro Station and from Akshardham Metro Station to Mayur Vihar Phase3 Paper Market.
The Mohalla bus will be powered by six battery packs with a total capacity of 196 kW, which will cover a range of over 200 km with a 45minute charging time. The 9metre Mohalla buses have 23 passenger seats and a standing capacity of 13 passengers.
