Boom in SUV sales in October, boom in auto sector

New Delhi. There has been a boom in India's auto sector in the festive month of October. The reason for the boom in the country's auto sector was the surge in SUV sales. With rising incomes in a growing economy, customers preferred to switch to upgraded models.

With this changing preference of customers, big car manufacturers like Mahindra & Mahindra, Kia Motors, Hyundai and market leader Maruti Suzuki registered a jump in SUV sales last month.

Vijay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M, said, “We are extremely excited to share that we have recorded the highest ever SUV sales in October with 54,504 units, a growth of 25 per cent.

With this, we sold a total of 96,648 vehicles with a 20 percent increase in total volume. October itself had a great start with Thar Rocks receiving 1.7 lakh bookings in the first 60 minutes. The SUV portfolio continued to grow during the festive season.

Kia India said the company delivered 28,545 units in October this year, registering a growth of 30 per cent as compared to 21,941 units in the same period last year.

The company said it dispatched 22,753 units last month. Apart from the domestic market, there was huge demand for Kia vehicles in foreign countries also. The company exported a record 2,042 units.

The country's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki achieved a record high by registering a growth of 19.4 percent in SUV sales. Similarly, Hyundai Motor India recorded its highest ever monthly SUV sales in October with 37,902 units sold.

This surge in SUV sales has been a relief for the auto sector, which has seen slow growth in demand for new cars for two years. This is forcing carmakers to ship fewer cars to dealers and offer more discounts to customers with rising stocks of unsold cars.

According to the vehicle portal, Kia vehicles were delivered to 28,545 customers excluding Telangana.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia, said, “Kia India is prioritizing the delivery of vehicles at the earliest to meet the growing demand, while the company is working closely with dealer partners to manage inventory. .

With smart inventory control, we ensured that our customers get timely delivery of their favorite vehicles while our dealers benefit from streamlined operations.”
