Auto-taxi strike for two days in Delhi-NCR in protest against Ola-Uber

New Delhi. Auto-taxi drivers in Delhi-NCR have announced a two-day strike from Thursday. They have called for a strike in protest against Ola-Uber. The Auto-Taxi Drivers Association says that their earnings are being affected due to Ola-Uber.

The reaction of taxi drivers has come to the fore on the auto-taxi strike. Taxi driver Sunil Kumar said that a strike has been called for Thursday and Friday. Our vehicles are not able to run due to the vehicles running in Ola-Uber. We have received orders from the union. They say that earlier CNG was 40 per liter, but today it is above 70. Our fare has not been increased and we are getting a rate of 9 rupees per kilometer from Ola-Uber, whereas the rate should be 15 rupees per kilometer.

He said, “Ola-Uber companies are taking their full commission, but the drivers are not getting much commission. We are incurring losses and due to this we are not even able to cover the maintenance cost of the vehicle. We work for 10 to 15 hours. Then we are able to save 800 or 900 rupees in a day. Our only demand is that the fare should be increased.”

Meanwhile, auto driver Sanjay Sharma said, “We are facing a lot of problems with Ola, Uber and Rapido. On opening the app, the auto fare appears to be higher than the cab. Due to this, passengers do not book autos, instead they use bike service. Therefore, bike service should also be stopped.”
