Talking heads…
The reaction to Apple’s potential investment is interesting. Bank of America noted that “a large direct investment by Apple in OpenAI could raise concerns about a potential partnership on artificial intelligence as a long-term alternative to Google search.”
The bigger picture is even more interesting. Apple Intelligence will be available on all of Apple’s major computing platforms: iPhones, including the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, and also iPads in the M series and Macs. This wide range of supported devices means that the feature will be available to tens of millions of systems on day one, which also means that ChatGPT will be natively supported on them.
This has led to a number of very positive predictions from analysts. Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives predicts a historic AI-driven iPhone upgrade cycle, and claims that 25% of the world (according to his estimates) will use Apple devices to make AI requests.
