New Delhi . Current BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has become the ICC Chairman and his tenure with the Indian board is about to end soon. Now the question is arising that who will replace him?
The BCCI members present at the 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bengaluru on Sunday requested current secretary Jay Shah to expedite the process of finding his successor so that the transition can be completed properly. Although talking about the new secretary was not on the agenda or a major issue of the AGM, people present at the meeting spoke openly on it.
According to the information, Jay Shah will step down from his post in the last days of November and will take over the post of ICC President for a period of three years from December 1.
According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, “It was a request that everything should happen at the right time, so that we can get a clear vision. In the current situation, Delhi and District Cricket Association President Rohan Jaitley, BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar, Joint Secretary Devjit Saikia and Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel are in the race for the post.
The priority of the AGM was the nomination of two representatives from India to attend ICC meetings. Currently, Shah is BCCI's representative on the ICC Board and IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal has the same role on the Chief Executive Committee. The AGM has tasked the general body members to recommend two names for the posts as soon as possible.
Arun Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya were also elected as the general body representatives on the IPL Governing Council, with the former set to continue as the league president until at least IPL 2025.
Former Andhra Pradesh cricketer V Chamundeswarnath was nominated as a player representative by the Indian Cricketers' Association and was included in the Governing Council of the IPL.
The AGM also approved the annual budget for the 202425 season and the members unanimously resolved to maintain BCCI's legal status as a society.
