Chandigarh. uUttar Pradesh Hockey won the title by defeating Hockey Haryana in the final of the 14th Hockey India SubJunior Men's National Championship at the AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Sector 42 Sports Complex on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Hockey Punjab performed brilliantly by defeating Hockey Association of Odisha and secured the third position in the competition.
Uttar Pradesh Hockey won the champion title after a 73 victory over Hockey Haryana. Ujjwal Pal (12', 24', 35', 47') led the attack with four goals. Rahul Yadav (5', 26') also scored two goals and Shahrukh Ali (53') added to the score for Uttar Pradesh Hockey. Chirag (10', 58') and Happy (52') scored goals for Hockey Haryana.
In the third place match, Hockey Punjab defeated Odisha Hockey Association 81 to secure a place on the podium.
Sunny (8', 55') and Mandeep Singh (19', 26') performed well by scoring two goals each, while Yuvraj Singh (3'), Utkarsh (5'), Ajaypal Singh (48') and Jashanpreet Singh (58') scored one goal each. Mandeep Kerketta (4') was the only scorer for Odisha.
