Jeddah. Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) allrounder Nitish Rana was added to the list of capped allrounders by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 4.20 crore on the second day of the IPL 2025 auction on Monday.
Rana's base price was Rs 1.50 crore. There was tough competition for them between Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals.
Rana's entry in Rajasthan Royals will further strengthen the team's batting. Known for his ability to handle the innings and score runs quickly when needed, Rana has made his mark in the tournament as a reliable middleorder batsman. His good experience and consistent performance in the IPL can be beneficial for the Royals.
CSK started the bidding for Rana. After this Rajasthan made a bid of Rs 1.60 crore. Both the teams increased the price to Rs 2.20 crore, after which RCB also joined the fray.
All three franchises increased the bid to Rs 3 crore. RCB looked confident when it increased the bid to Rs 4 crore, but Rajasthan sealed the deal by making a decisive bid of Rs 4.20 crore.
Nitish Rana has been performing consistently in the IPL since his debut in 2016. He has scored 2,636 runs in 107 IPL matches at an average of 28.34.
His ability to handle pressure situations and tackle spin in the middle overs makes him a good option for any team.
The thirtyoneyearold was previously a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders, where he not only contributed with the bat but also led the team on several occasions. His leadership ability in the tournament is also evident. However, he was released by his old team ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, making him one of the most indemand players in this year's pool.
