New Delhi. The India vs Sri Lanka bilateral One Day International Deaf series is scheduled to begin on December 2. The fivematch series will be held at the DDA Roshanara Club, Shakti Nagar, New Delhi and will conclude on December 8.
For this muchawaited series, the All India Men's Selection Committee has finalized a squad of 15 players from across the country. Led by captain Virender Singh, the Indian Deaf cricket team will face Sri Lanka in powerpacked matches with an aim to win the champion's trophy.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Guest, Raja Banthiya, IPS – DCP North Delhi, who gave a motivational speech motivating the players of both the teams. He expressed his happiness to be present at the prestigious Roshanara Club and extended his best wishes to the participants. Banthia also praised the Indian Deaf Cricket Association for its significant contribution in promoting deaf cricket in India and internationally. He congratulated the IDCA team and its President Sumit Jain for their dedication and passion for the sport.
Speaking on the occasion, Sumit Jain said, “The bilateral series provides a great opportunity for teams to hone their skills and identify areas for improvement. These matches not only serve as valuable learning experiences but also help players build confidence and prepare for bigger platforms in the future. I am confident that it will be a great tournament and I wish both teams the best of luck.”
The Indian team underwent intensive training in Delhi from November 25 to December 1, 2024, under the expert guidance of head coach Dev Dutt and assistant coach Sushil Gupta. The Sri Lankan team reached New Delhi for the tournament on December 1, 2024.
