Colombo. The first edition of the Lanka T10 Super League will be played in the iconic hill capital Kandy, one of the premier venues of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, all the matches of the tournament will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy from 12 to 22 December.
The Lanka T10 Super League, the newest addition to Sri Lanka's annual cricket calendar, will feature top Sri Lankan players as well as the finest international stars as well as young and rising stars. Sri Lanka already hosts the Lanka Premier League, a professional T20 league.
Six teams – Colombo Strikers, Galle Marvels, Hambantota Bangla Tigers, Jaffna Titans, Kandy Bolts and Negombo Braves – will compete in this tournament.
Sri Lanka Cricket said in a release on Wednesday that each team will have a maximum of 17 players and a minimum of 15 players, which will include seven international players.
Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, one of the most beautiful venues in Sri Lanka, has hosted international matches across all formats since its opening in 2010. Three ICC Men's 50over World Cup matches, nine ICC T20 World Cup matches and three ODI Asia Cup matches have been held at this ground.
The venue, which is home to the Kandy Bolts, is also the base for one of Sri Lanka Cricket's four Centers of Excellence, which focus on the development of the game.
T10 is the newest and shortest format of the game which has been gaining popularity across the world in the last few years.
